Moray

Proof of the great cientifical achievements of the Andeans

From afar, it seems like an Alien place. Coming closer, you realize it’s proof of the great cientifical achievements of the Andeans.

There are tales told that Moray has this circular shape because of meteors and  meteorites that fell in this region. We do actually find several holes with this shape, and some of them were used to create this center of agricultural experimentation in the Inca era.

The differences of temperature, sun exposure and wind between Andenes (these “steps”) allowed the Andean people to develop highly adaptable species, and also new plant species. Therefore, they obtained a wide variety of products that they could transport and cultivate in more parts of the Inca empire. In this visit, we will invite you to know more about the crops they grew.
